The
Access Solutions project includes five
key deliverables:
1.
Research
The research component of the Access Solutions project forms the
basis for the other components. Through document review, surveys
and interviews, the research is intended to:
- analyse
social and economic issues in labour mobility
- document
promising practices of regulators in Ontario and other jurisdictions
- identify
gaps and challenges regulators are facing in addressing access
issues
- highlight
timely and strategic issues for regulators
- document
the business case for access initiatives
- increase
understanding of issues pertaining to internationally educated
and trained professionals
- provide
the raw materials to create the compendium, other publications
and website content
- identify
areas for future research.
2.
Publications
Drawn from the research, the following publications will be created
to assist regulatory bodies in access initiatives. All will be available
on the website. Some will also be produced in hard copy format.
- Compendium
of promising practices
- Business
case for access
- Guiding
Principles
- How-to
Guide and Checklist
- Resource
guide
3.
Website
A Regulators For Access website is being created. The website will
house the project publications as they are completed, as well as
other items generated by the Steering Committee. It will contain
links to other relevant sites and serve as an ongoing mechanism
for information sharing and collaboration among regulatory bodies
on access issues.
4.
Regulators' forum
The Steering Committee will host two regulators' forums. The forums
provide an opportunity for regulatory bodies to work collaboratively
on access issues, share best practices, identify common issues,
and discuss what could be done individually and collectively. The
forums also provide a venue for feedback on the website, compendium,
and other products of the Access Solutions project.
5.
Final report
At the conclusion of the project, the project team will produce
a final report. The report will describe the purpose and methodology
of the project, document what was done, summarize key findings,
and make recommendations for further initiatives to support Ontario's
regulated professions in improving access for internationally educated
or trained professionals. The report will include an executive summary
and an accompanying power point presentation.
